When it comes to creating the perfect garlic bread, quality ingredients make all the difference. Start by selecting a high-quality sourdough bread loaf with a crusty exterior and a soft, airy interior. Using garlic cloves is essential for achieving that robust garlic flavor, so opt for plump, firm cloves instead of powdered or granulated garlic. If you have fresh garlic from the garden, this is perfect!

Garlic bread is a versatile accompaniment to many meals, adding a burst of flavor to pasta dishes, soups, salads, or enjoyed simply as a snack on its own. Its crispy exterior and warm, garlic-infused interior make it an irresistible addition to any table.

For this recipe, we're keeping it simple yet satisfying, allowing the natural flavors of the sourdough bread and fresh garlic to shine.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sourdough bread loaf

  • 4-6 cloves of fresh garlic, minced

  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh parsley (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, softened butter, extra virgin olive oil, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

3. Using a serrated knife, slice the sourdough bread loaf diagonally into 1-inch thick slices, being careful not to cut all the way through.

4. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously between each slice of bread, ensuring that it reaches the edges.

5. For a soft garlic bread, wrap the loaf in aluminum foil, leaving the top slightly open to allow steam to escape. For a crispy garlic bread, brush the outside of the loaf with olive oil and skip the aluminum foil.

6. Place the loaf on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is warmed through on the inside.

7. Serve the garlic bread hot, tea it apart with your fingers, and enjoy alongside your favorite meals or as a tasty snack!
